Armstrong is uniquely situated in the heart of the beautiful Spallumcheen Valley, between the sunny, rolling Okanagan Valley and the cooler, forested Shuswap Valley. This ideal location makes it one of the best and most beautiful agricultural areas in British Columbia. The valley to the south and northeast of Armstrong is cloaked in green alfalfa and golden wheat, while to the northwest, farms and ranches are nestled amongst the tall evergreens of the Monashee Mountains.

The area around Armstrong features many attractions as well as world class golf courses, water sports in the summer and snow sports in the winter. We are just a few miles from Silver Star Mountain Ski Resort and Hunters Range snowmobile trails. Boating, great fishing, hiking trails are all close at hand.

Armstrong, B.C. is located centrally, approximately 500 km (300 miles) from Calgary, Alberta, Vancouver, B.C., Spokane and Seattle, Washington State. Agriculture and ranching are the traditional economic ventures of Armstrong, named after E.C. Heaton Armstrong, a London banker who helped finance the Shuswap and Okanagan Railway in 1892 and local development at the turn of the century.

The influence of Dutch immigrants settling in the valley after the Second World War is represented by their cheese-making knowledge, and Armstrong is well known today for the great cheese it produces. Village Cheese Factory, which has viewing windows and samples available for the public is located in Armstrong but perhaps more well known is Armstrong Cheese which is available throughout Canada in major food chains.
