Enderby is an idyllic community, situated on the banks of the Shuswap River. This river played a key role in the history and growth of the North Okanagan, serving as a vital transportation route for the Shuswap Indians and early settlers.
The areas economy still largely depends on agriculture and forestry, with diversification being the key word in both industries. This is expressed in the forestry industry as value added processing of wood products and in agricultures as a wide range of endeavors, including livestock, mixed crops and exotic animals.
Enderby downtown is reminiscent of earlier days, with personalized, friendly service for a great shopping experience.
The river is still the centre of the community’s outdoor activities; it is a great river to canoe, kayak or even float down on an inner tube on a hot Okanagan summer day. In the fall, the community rallies for the return of the Salmon that spawn along its banks.
